On Sunday, myself & my friends (Ange & Candy) decided that we needed to bake something…as if this is a feeling we never have…we are forever looking for baking projects…so we decided to make some sugar cookies. This was mainly due to the fact that we had been to Kadies the day before and bought a selection of new cookie cutters and some sprinkles (as everyone needs some sprinkles in their life).
As you can see we decided to incorporate some sprinkles into some of the cookie dough…they didn’t only look pretty but tasted delicious!
Baking sugar cookies is such a fun project if you have children and they need something to keep them occupied for a few hours on the weekend or over school holiday’s. As while you are rolling out the dough, they can cut the shapes and another batch is in the oven. To add more chaos you could even have an icing station so they can decorate their biscuits. So many fun ideas to keep the kids out of mischief 🙂

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 5 cups flour
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
Method
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth.
- Beat in eggs and vanilla.
- Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
- Preheat oven to 200 degrees C.
- Roll out dough on floured surface 1 - 2 cm thick.
- Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter.
- Place cookies on greased (spray & cook) baking trays.
- Bake 8 - 10 minutes in oven.
- Cool completely.
If you want to add sprinkles to your cookie dough, just knead some in before rolling it out. I really loved the sprinkles as it makes them look awesome but also taste a little sweeter 😉
