Nederburg Winemaster’s Reserve Special Late Harvest 2014
  • Colour : Bright lemon-yellow
  • Bouquet : A slight honey character with rich aromas of dried fruit
  • Palate : lovely sweet palate with pineapple, apricot and raisin flavours supported by a fresh acidity
  • Food Suggestions : Excellent on it’s own, mild spicy dishes, dried fruit or baked puddings

Our overall rating was 15

This is going to sound so strange, but it is the way my palate interpreted the Special Late Harvest. For me it is a slightly dry sweet wine…yes I know those are contradicting but still it is the best way to describe it. I found it to be a very refreshing and easy drinking sweet wine. It paired beautifully with cheese and I can imagine with a curry it would be superb. I could also imagine drinking it on a hot Summer’s day, by the pool. Ok back to reality…and the wine.

Overall, the Nederburg Winemaster’s Reserve Special Late Harvest is a fantastic sweeter wine. It is also a great introductory dessert wine, for those of you that are not a big fan of sweet wine, this is the place to start, as it is not too sweet.

General comments from my guests :

“A great dessert wine, that isn’t too sweet”

“Good dessert wine”

Nederburg Winemaster’s Reserve Noble Late Harvest 2013

  • Colour : Brilliant yellow with hints of gold
  • Bouquet : Lovely aromas of honey , tangerine, apricot and dried peach
  • Palate : A subtle balance between acid and sugar with dried fruit and vanilla spice notes
  • Food Suggestions : Excellent served with pates, blue cheese, desserts, cakes, pastries and tarts

Our overall rating was 18

Now you all know that my heart’s desire is anything sweet, so the Nederburg Winermaster’s Reserve Noble Late Harvest, is pure perfection. It is deliciously sweet with a subtle honey flavour…which is just to die for! I actually do not think there is enough complementary words for how fantastic this dessert wine is. It paired gorgeously with our dessert – Plum & Cinnamon Tart (recipe can be found here). It would also go really well with almost any dessert, as well as cheese.

Overall, if you are a dessert wine fan, then this is a must try on your list. It is delicious and sweet, and will have you going back for more!
